Handmade by Brambleberry

Handmade by Brambleberry comes to The Good Marketplace this year with a whimsical collection of festive decorations and kitchen accessories. We caught up with Glynis, the creative mastermind behind the business to learn more about her story.

Hi Glynis! Tell us a bit about yourself and Handmade by Brambleberry.

I am the owner, designer and maker of Handmade by Brambleberry. I’ve been a crafter since the age of 7 and have always looked for new crafts to try, and when the opportunity arose, sold what I made. After taking a break from sewing and crafting of 20 years, and being bored with being locked down during COVID, I started developing my eclectic range of handcrafted products made from quality fabrics, yarns and notions sourced where possible from other Australian small businesses.

Selling a range of aprons, shower caps, kitchen accessories and seasonal decoration, initially through markets, Handmade by Brambleberry is now stocked in 5 collectives around Melbourne and regional Victoria. My goal for Handmade by Brambleberry is for it to be more than a 'hobby' business.

What are you passionate about?

As a communications specialist in my day job I am very passionate about telling stories.

What does ethical consumerism mean to you?

With more and more consumers wanting to purchase ethically sustainable items, Handmade by Brambleberry has minimised the amount of fabric scraps that go into landfill by creating a range of 'scrap busting' items as well as supplying a number of other crafters with offcuts or donating to fabric recyclers.

Describe your perfect day!

My perfect day is a remedial massage, relaxing facial, high tea with my daughter and friends and several bottles of Australia Prosecco 😃
